What's the Education and Training course about?
Candidates who wish to work as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sectors and who have little or no prior experience of planning and delivering learner-led sessions. This course may also be suitable for those considering a career in teaching but would like further guidance.

To provide you with an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training sector.
Theories and frameworks underpinning teaching and learning, as well as input on how to plan, design and deliver inclusive learning sessions. Assessing learning and providing constructive, developmental learning is also a key aspect of this course
Assessment is carried out through a blend of written and practical assignments. All candidates are required to plan and deliver a 20 minute micro teach to their peers as part of their final assessment.

There are various routes for progression following on from this course and candidates will receive guidance on this. The full teaching qualification is the Certificate in Education or PGCE in Lifelong learning.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

Candidates should have a subject to deliver in mind and ideally have a level 3 qualification in that subject. Alternatively, candidates may already be in a teaching/training role.
