What are the aims of this course?
Apprenticeships allow 16+ year olds to start work and earn a wage, while learning new skills that lead to nationally recognised qualifications. Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers, so they offer a structured programme that takes apprentices through the skills needed to do a job well. Most of an apprentice's training takes place on the job, but they will also have to complete off-the-job training. Early Years Educator Apprentices work towards a nationally-recognised competence-based qualification.

- Understanding how to promote play and learning in the early years

- Health and safety and security procedures in early years settings

- Safeguarding children in early years settings
What qualifications do I need to do this course?Must be working in a relevant job role and hold one of the following qualifications in both maths and English Language: GCSE grades A & C passed within the last five years. A level or AS level grade E or above in the last five years A level or AS level grade A taken at any time
How is the course assessed?The course is assessed through work-based evidence compiled as a portfolio.
Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the course?At the end of the programme apprentices will have achieved:
Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Educator
Level 2 Functional Skills in ICT
Employee Rights and Responsibilities
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
What will I be able to go on to do after I've completed this course?On completion of the Early Years Educator apprentices can go on to complete more supervisory or managerial courses
What are the career opportunities?On completion of this Apprenticeship, apprentices will be qualified to work as a nursery worker/nursery nurse/nursery teaching assistant. With additional training, apprentices may be able to progress in their careers to more supervisory or managerial roles.
